I am planning on transforming my standard inground rectangle pool ( 31 x 14 feet, capacity 15 500 gallons) into pool with infinity corner edge ( all together infinity edge length 22 feet).

I want use catch basins/ gutters around infinity edges as a balance tank. What should be minimal capacity of catching basins to work well as a balancing tank?
Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Any recommendations/ ideas will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Thomas

I think you will need significantly larger basins, but I cannot opine on sizing.

Below is my in-process build and that large bounded in-ground "pool" area on the left (first pic) and on right (second pic) is the surge balance tank - it will be completely covered by decking and is in addition to the basins

As a reference:

- My pool infinity edges total 43 feet plus another 12 feet for the spa

- The continuous pool and spa basin is 21 inches wide by 45 inches deep. So ~360 cubic feet or ~2700 gallons for the basins.

- The surge balancing tank is 45 inches deep by 75 inches wide by 222 inches long. So ~434 cubic feet or ~3400 gallons for the tank, in addition to the basins.

Total of around 6100 gallons for surge capacity.
