Buying equipment online- does this void the warranty?

My local pool person here in Dallas is unable to procure a Jandy heater for me, but suggested that if I buy online he will install it for me. Does this break the terms of a Jandy warranty? It's a big purchase and want to follow the right steps. The installer is indeed a licensed pool professional.

Most pool equipment warranties are pretty worthless. The equipment manufacturers will try to find some reason the deny a warranty claim. If it works when it's installed, you should be good to go and if it doesn't, return it to the place you bought it from for exchange or refund.

In trade magazines, Jandy advertised "Jandy has quit the internet!" Their products are not supposed to be sold online and their warranty policy expressly removes any warranty on a heater that is sold online.

You may want to try a Pentair MasterTemp or StaRite Max-E-Therm (same heater, different enclosure). So far, you will get a warranty when professionally installed. I do this regularly because I'm too old to be lugging heaters around and customers save money.

Did you verify their licenses?

What licenses do they have?

Is it a business license and a contractor's license?

Do they have the correct license to install gas appliances?

In Texas, specialty contractors such as plumbers, electricians, and HVAC workers will require a state license, while general contractors will get their license through their local jurisdiction.

If they have a business license, then they can set up an account with local wholesale suppliers and buy Jandy products like heaters.

What is the reason they cannot get the Jandy heater?

To work on gas, the company needs to have the correct license.

LNG License Categories

Is the person going to get a permit or are they asking you to get a permit?

Are they going to run a new gas line?

Very thoughtful reply!

This will be useful to many people going forward.

I would be inclined to get a recommendation from Jandy about a dealer/installer in the Dallas area.

(I do not have a dog in this fight.)
