Booster Pump shut off valve?

New Pool owner and I had a company come and do a ton of service on the pool. Once they finished I noticed a lot less pressure coming out of the jets in the built in spa. The older plumbing had a shut off valve to the booster pump and when that was closed and older booster pump shut off there was a lot more pressure in spa even without the blower on.

The pool company I hired wired the booster pump, heater and main pump all together so that's fine I guess when I am heating the pool but when I am heating the spa "most" the heated water is going out the pool cleaner instead of the pool jets. I disconnected the pool cleaner and put the hose in the spa and it took less than half the time to heat the spa.

This happens when the Spa return valve is open and the suction valve it is turned to only get water from the spa so the spa should just circulate and heat faster. Says common sense. BUT again right now what happens is the level is the spa starts to go down because probably 80% of the heated water is going to the pool via the pool cleaner.

Thoughts? Did pool guy mess up my plumbing? I am going to Lowes right now and install a shut off valve and I will disconnect my booster pump to see if problem is fixed.

Welcome to TFP.

Your pool cleaner booster pump should be plumbed to pickoff water from the pool return leg. When in SPA MODE all your water should go to the spa returns and the pool return leg should have no water flow.

It does not sound like the booster pump water pickoff is installed in the correct place in your plumbing.

Post pics of your equipment pad.

What model pool cleaner and booster pump do you have?
