Which Black and Decker pool pump would be better for my pool? 1.5hp or 2hp?
I have a 15k gallon pool with 2 skimmers, main drain and 4 return jets. I also have a slide and am using an old polaris line as a modified water fountain (no longer using booster pump).

Why not go with the 3 HP. Pushes more water at lower pumps speeds more quietly.
I previously had a 1hp pool pump so I thought 3hp would be overkill. I know variable speed pumps you can adjust speed but I just did a quick search so I'm not sure.

I'll probably get the 3hp if I can save money as well push more water. Just want to make sure 3hp wouldn't be too much for my pools needs

Nope. You dial it down until it meets your needs. Normally, going much larger with the 'Big 3' costs alot more and doesn't ROI for a looooooong time. For $519, go big.

It's always a gamble, but my feeling is if a product is going to malfunction due to a manufacturing defect, it will do when it's relatively new. I've seen at least two recent threads in which Black & Decker pumps began ticking shortly after installation. The vendors replaced the defective pumps. I'm just not sure if the extra four-year coverage is worth double the price. That's a decision you'll need to make.

but its a 1 year with Calimar versus 5 year with B&D. Thoughts?
Would you spend $530 for a 5 year warranty on the $519 pump ? Because that's the price of the B&D, just a hair over double thr Calimar.

*if* the Calimar failed in years 2 though 5, you could buy a second one, and still be cheaper than the B&D. Then THAT pump would need to fail before year 5 of the original sale to have made the B&D a better deal. It's possible, but not very likely.

Good point. And they are the same minus the orange plastic bits right?
