Black Algae over waterfall feature

Friends, I am seeking a way to kill black algae that are embedded in the crevice between the white plastic part and the brick (picture below).
My concern is that a simple-minded brushing may drop a lot of the black stuff into the pool water.
Is there an effective way to kill this stuff, and better yet, to prevent a future outbreak?
Many Thanks!

Brush the black stuff off and keep your FC at the high end of your FC/CYA range.

I doubt it is “black algae”. I think it is its cousin, black mold.

There are also some cheap foamy algaecides that you can use to spray on the mold to see if it will kill it.

Hydrogen peroxide might work. 3% in a spray bottle.

Wet and Forget is 68424-85-1 Alkyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride 1.65 %

Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (C12-18) 68391-01-5 9.96%Diakyl methyl benzyl ammonium chloride (C12-18) 73049-75-9 0.04%Isopropanol 7732-18-5 2.0%

Quaternary ammonium compounds, benzyl-C8-18-alkyldimethyl, chlorides 63449-41-2 10-30 %

Note: Only use one product and do not use a second product after using the first product.

It will probably take multiple applications to kill it.

Note that products might alter the color of materials exposed so try a test spot to see if color is affected.
