I dare say that everyone is using baking soda as alkalinity increaser. Those of us here typically buy it in the baking aisle, but even if you buy the stuff labeled as "Alkalinity Up" in the pool aisle it's still pure baking soda.
$6.99 for 13 lbs at Costco / Bjs in the baking aisle for Arm and Hammer orange bag. For the average pool with 12k gallons it’s a several year supply. Even with my 35k gallon pool it was at least a season and a half and it would be long clumped up by the end. Smash the bag a few times and it was good as new.
