Autopilot CS30 Issue

Hey guys. We've had our salt chlorine generator on our pool since about January. It's an Autopilot CS30.

A few days ago the chlorine level in the pool dropped so we got the level where it needed to be with liquid chlorine, but today noticed that the chlorine was all gone again.

I checked the CS30 and it was showing the output number on the screen and all status lights were good, but if I pressed any of the buttons to try and change the output level nothing happened. I did a power cycle and now the display just shows 4 rotating dashes, and there are no status lights illuminated (shown in the attached image ).

I have contacted support, but just wanted to see if this was anything anyone else had encountered before, or has any suggestions to try.

Thanks!

cant answer on the swg model, but have you run an OCLT to make sure that your original problem wasnt an algae issue that the SWG couldn’t overcome? Once algae starts they can’t keep up well as They trickle over time.

Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

if that passes, you might do do an overnight SWG gain test to see if it is producing.

Thanks! I'll check that out. So far algae hasn't been an apparent problem in the pool, but definitely want to rule that out.

Appreciate it.

Make sure that the SWG is off, and that you test after sundown and as close to sunrise as you can get (to rule out the sun UV consuming chlorine)

If you fail, you’ll have to move to SLAM, which will need a solid test kit

If you can test and post your results here people will be able to help advise better

Thanks. I saw this guide earlier. I think "Lost communication between the power
center and the generator cell" looks like the closest to my problem, though it doesn't mention about it rotating/flashing.

I took a quick look at the cord as suggested and it looked in good condition to me. Sounds like Autopilot support is going to call me tomorrow so fingers crossed they can give me some more info!

I work for a pool repair company in swfl that installs cs30’s and in the office we literally have have 40 of them stacked up that are all warranty units we replaced. Im going to a call today where we have replaced this cell 4 times already. I joke that all in all its just another chlorsync in the wall. Edit by Jim R.

Wow this doesn't sound good. I'm considering moving to a SWG over the winter b/c the cost and availability of liquid chlorine has become a nightmare. The CS30 looked great, but I'm planning to DIY and don't want to deal w/ a bunch of warranty issues. What's the best alternative?

Just following up on this. I did need some warranty work done to resolve the issue. The Autopilot team seemed to think the issue was with the power control board, so they sent me both a new control board, and a new salt cell just in case. They then had an authorized installer come around and fit it.
I'm hoping this is a one off issue with the system for me, as other than this problem it was working great.
I will say that the Autopilot team was great to work with on the warranty process. They didn't push back on anything and worked to get the issue solved quickly.
Thanks to everyone on here for trying to help diagnose the problem!

Wondering how the new board is doing?? I just purchased a new gen1 with cs30, wondering if I should return it, and get the gen2 system?

So is it the cs30's? Or the power unit?? Wondering if I should opt for the new gen2 system with the older manifold system?
