Auto pool water filler? Toilet bowl float?

A normal auto-fill actually does use a float valve similar to a toilet valve. But, it is installed in a bucket next to the pool with a pipe connecting the bucket to the pool that equalizes the water level between the bucket and pool. If the level goes down, the float valve opens and adds water.

I had one added to my current pool when resurfacing. They drilled a hole in the shell and inserted a pipe that connects to the bucket.
Without going to those lengths, there are not many options besides have the hose running over to your pool edge with the external sensor.

I think there are some that use an electronic sensor that sends a signal to a remote valve to open, but I think they run on batteries which need to be monitored. I have not spent the time to search for what is out there.

I have no idea ... but for nearly 3x the price, I would hope the 2nd would work better.

Seems that some pool product are cheaply made and sold at an inflated price ... because people with pools can pay it :D

I have something similar as well, though it was original to the pool. It's a separate skimmer-like well with a swamp cooler float valve in it. Works pretty well actually.
