AS32 - 2R025 Thermistor replacement

What's the best way to go about replacing the Thermistor.
Mine has deteriorated and the wires still attached to the board are about 3\4" protruding.
I can solder but wondering if the heat gen'd by attaching wire to wire may damage the board?
Plus there isn't much room to work...

I just snipped the legs off the old one and wrapped them around the replacement and soldered. Very easy to do. No heat to the board. That also leaves the new one standing away from the board for better cooling.
