Are Pool Ladders Paintable?

I recently purchased a 20ft Summer Waves Black and Gray Pool (See below)...I see a lot of white pool ladders on Craigslist but I am worried they don't match well and need to steer towards gray or taupe. Can I buy a white one and paint it? or will that not be good for the pool and/or just come off anyway? I know its more of a cosmetic question vs. need but I figured it you guys didn't know then no one would! ha ha. Thanks in advance

You can paint anything ... the question is whether it will stick and stay

With proper prep and the proper paint and the proper application I would think it could work, but I am not sure what is proper in any of those 3 ;)

You could paint a small area first to test. This would eliminate a mess and a lot of work if it bubbles off. I have an old aluminum pool ladder and the white paint on the aluminum began to fail. I did extensive prep work and then spray painted. The paint on the bare aluminum areas didn't last a week but the spray paint on the existing original paint and the plastic stayed on. I ended up sanding off the paint on the plastic steps and wrapped the aluminum with Duro-Last PVC roofing material to cover the mess. Now it looks nice.

Rust-Oleum spray paint now claims to be compatible with many surface types.
