Aquasport 52 concerns

Hello. I’m in the process of getting the permits and I’ve already purchased the pool. It’s a aquasport 52”x17’x32’ and due to the slope in my yard it will be fully in ground. I really want to add an extra skimmer or two because all of the pool pump companies say I need two skimmers just to move this amount of water in 8 hours. It’s 12,500 gallons total and I’d also like to run plumbing for water features before I backfill.

The little information I did get out of him was that although they won’t officially recommend it, there is no problem with taking a holesaw and drilling additional holes for suction ports or lighting fixtures as needed.

But the skimmer panels are about 10” wide or so. There’s no way to sidestep Buster Crabbe on getting these. Has anybody had any luck getting these ? My retailer has been trying but they won’t respond.

Hello Chap..... your pool sounds to be about 21,000. That's a big ole pool. You can easily get by with one skimmer, and a decent pump to move the water well. Two skimmers are iceing on the cake. You want to place the skimmer in the spot that takes advantage of prevailing winds in your yard.

Have you considered instead of dropping the pool in the ground, but instead building a deck around it in the slop so that it appears level with the top of the slope? Lots of good looking deck options there.
Take a look at INYO.com for skimmer parts.

Hey Chapstick and Wecome !!! Mine had one return right next to the skimmer, above ground pool style. The rounded ends made for good 'toilet bowel' swirling and the small skimmer did fine.

Instead of fretting over new panels for a skimmer, I'd just run more returns to get the circulation that you need more than anything. Itd certainly make your life easier and minimize dead spots in the pool.

Hello everybody and thanks for the input ! I managed to get my hands on two more skimmer panels so now I have a total of three and the Hayward 1097 skimmers. Wasn’t easy but I got them. Two will be for the main pumping/filtration system and the third is going to be for an additional pump/filter for a waterfall feature.

I’ve built dozens of decks over the years so I want to try something new and with the outrageous cost of materials these days I can backfill the retaining walls and throw down fake grass until things get more affordable. Twice the price for gravel is easier to stomach than twice the price on a couple truck loads of lumber and decking !

I will post some pics of what I have gone through preparing the yard for this. It’s been crazy the last couple months. At this point we cut down nine 70’ trees and a 100’ tree. Also pruned another nine 70 footers. Currently there’s a 12,000 pound stump half way out of the ground. We wrecked a backhoe cylinder and had to give up unfortunately. Somebody is coming with a track loader next week though !

Does anybody know if I need special return ports that will fit in between the corrugations ? Seems to me a standard 1-1/2” port should be good but since I’m ordering them it would be a huge bummer if they’re too big.

I had to have the guy that sold me the pool get them from the manufacturer. It was like pulling teeth but I did manage to get them. $250 a panel with the skimmer included in the price. I do have pics and some input on how to make the semi in ground install way easier. I’ll come back later.

Not to bring up an old post, but do you by chance have a picture of your skimmer. The skimmer that came with my aqua sport is really close to the railing, so it’s annoying to take the basket out through the door. I’m a total noob when it comes to pools but just seems like if they had stepped it out another couple inches it would be a lot easier to empty without everything flowing back in
