So I've had this pool for about 10 years now and I am fed up with the Jandy Aquapure system. It is cool to adjust the percentage from my phone, but I realize that I only really do that twice a year to swap seasons. And the cell just has problems, the first couple years it was all about the flow sensor being finicky, now the issue is the electrodes just corrode themselves off. I've gone through several cells with my hard water (I know I killed one with too aggressive cleaning). The replacement cells keep getting more expensive, and now Jandy/Zodiac just doesn't want my (homeowner) business.
I did some research (thanks discount salt pool for your charts) and ended up with a CMP Powerclean 540. Theymake made a larger 760 model that would have been better, but the 540 makes a little more chlorine than the aqua pure 1400 did, so I do need to add extra chlorine during the hottest weeks, but I am used to that. The CMP has a clear housing which is so cool, you can watch it work and know exactly when it needs cleaning. I haven't had to clean it yet, but it looks way simpler to disassemble and the plates are fully exposed. It has been running for a month without issues.
Installing it was pretty easy, I shopped around for unions that would mate with the Jandy ones but of course they are proprietary. I found that those same unions though had an inner lip that was the pipe diameter so I just glued in some risers to the unions and it took like 10 minutes to fit all the pipe up. This might not make sense, but a photo will help. The hardest part was taking apart the existing power center and unplugging the aquapure stuff (turn off the power first!)
I've been a long time lurker here living off your knowledge, just thought that I would give back a quick success story.
