Anyone replaced their fiber optic tower with the SR Smith 6001/6002?

I have NOT checked the size of my current lights but I know they are small. Hoping they are the standard 1.5". Debating pulling the trigger on the 6001. I've watched all the youtube videos and read the SR Smith manual online. Has anyone done this on their own? The manual says to drain the pool but didn't know if I could get away with not doing that. Any tips from someone who has done this is appreciated.

Are you replacing just the tower or the lights as well?

Going to do the entire thing. I know SR Smith makes a fiber optic tower replacement but not sure it makes sense for the money. Would rather just put in new lights (I have 4) and the new PT-6001.

Curious how it turns out. I replaced the halogen bulb in my tower with LED headlight bulbs and its just ok with 2 pool lights. I also had perimeter fiber optic around the coping but it was damaged and removed.
