Hi,
I need to replace a few gaskets (skimmer, returns) and having a hard time finding "official" ones due to pool age and being in Canada and maybe covid.
I found some cork gaskets that might fit but as I'm replacing the liner I think I need the rubbery ones that go behind the liner.
I'm not sure if pools use some special, chlorine-resistant form of rubber but if I had a sheet of that rubber it seems to me DIY'ing the gasket should be a pretty trivial task? As far as I can tell those gaskets are flat so it should be simple as cutting a few holes, right?
I saw a thread in here where people talked about using silicone for this and someone advised against it as it might dissolve in water but then someone else said as long as you let it fully cure it should work.
Anyone have long-term experience with DIY gaskets and how durable they turned out to be?
