Hey there,
I'm continuing my DIY planning for remodeling my inground Grecian liner pool. One thing I'd like to do is replace the white plastic/polymer steps with vinyl over steel steps (picture of my pool below). The local pool guy wanted $12,500 to do the job and then another $7,500 to install a pool liner (a nice round $20,000 total--and he can't get to it until November 2022). I can buy the steel steps from a distributor for $2,300 and a new vinyl over steps 20 mil liner for about the same, putting my out-of-pocket DIY cost at under $5,000, and they guarantee 30-day delivery (fingers crossed).
My question is before I order: Am I missing something on the degree of difficulty? $12,000 sounds like a project.
I'm not concerned about the concrete pool deck as I will already be cutting concrete to remove the white aluminum bullnose coping and replacing it with limestone coping and limestone pool deck pavers. My concern is supporting the steps and attaching them to the pool wall at the opening. I couldn't find any online instructional video or instruction "manual." I've asked the distributor to send me something and am awaiting its response. Just wondered if any of you have either done this yourself or know where I can find a how-to video or instructions.
Many thanks!
Elliott
