Any Experience with Doheny Ultra Pumps?

Hey all, it's been a while.....

My Hayward superpump died, I'm on the hunt for a replacement. I searched the forums pretty extensively and found numerous threads about Doheny pumps. In general, it seems like you get what you pay for, but that's not necessarily bad since the price is pretty low.

I'm curious if anyone's had experience with their 'high efficiency' version? Specifically this: Doheny's Pool Pro Ultra Inground Pool Pump has a high-performance motor with a quieter, cooler operation. FREE shipping on orders $100+. Shop now!

Compared to the standard variant I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. I think the Ultra has higher efficiency? Hard to tell what the differences truly are, or if they justify the price increase. If anyone has experience or advice, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Go with This one if you're looking at generics. It's big and you'll dial it down to meet your needs. The cost savings from running a large VS pump at low RPM will pay for itself in no time. However long it lasts after that (likely years and years) is all gravy.

Any other suggestions?
I'm not sure if This one is truly VS, or is only selectable as 3 set speeds, but evenso, i'd want the energy savings from being able to run low and slow.

Do more homework and find a VS. Also hang tight and hopefully someone has thoughts. :)

Thank you (again).

This looks intriguing, but I'm hesitant because they label it for above ground pools. I have an IG ~34k gal vinyl pool. I wonder why it's only for AG?

Dang it I'm 0-fer-2. :ROFLMAO:

AG pumps are typically not self priming because AG equipment is gravity fed.
