Antique Tile advice

Hi all, first time post.

I'm the proud owner of an antique concrete pool (mid 1950's) and just stripped 2 layers of failing tile off the original you see in the attached. While I still have a lot of mortar to remove and about 10% of the tiles need replacing, I'm wondering if there's any chance of preserving it? Main issue i I can't find those beautiful aqua tiles anywhere - not even close. They are very retro and go well with the rest of this house (Spanish). The tiles are a bit fragile compared to new, probably the effects of chemicals over time, but would still hold up for a while I think as they are still well bonded.

Otherwise looking at either replacing the tile, or just painting over them (after scuffing/acid wash) - could maybe even match the color/pattern with that. I'm not looking for more than 5 years or so - the pool needs a major remodel.

Thanks for any help! Esp on locating vintage tiles (new ones...)

I wonder if you could replace the tiles that need replaced with a tile that is in contract and make a pretty pattern with it. You might have to take out some extras to help make it all look planned.

I would NOT paint it!!!! It could end up looking worse in the long run :(

If you want to match it exactly, you may want to inquire on a possible local custom tile maker? I would think if you took in a sample they might be able to match it. It’s more $$$, but if you’re keen on keeping the antique tile then probably your best bet in finding a suitable match.

Look at Arto Brick. They are in Los Angeles and hand glaze all their tiles. They can color match and the many people use them in vintage remodels (especially Spanish). If you like them, I can give you the contact info to the sales guy I liked. Best pricing around
