I've been using Leslies pools Power Powder Plus however it seems so expensive.

For my pool maintenance I currently drop in a few chlorine tablets each week and then once a week in the evening I put a cup or two of Power Powder Plus and everything runs fine

However just seeing if others are using an alternative to Power Powder Plus that is less expensive.

Oh my gosh, Austinman, you're in for a shock when you see what we spend our pool dollars on here at TFP! How about using plain generic household bleach (non scented, non thickened, no Clorox products) for all your chlorine needs? Works a charm and costs very little compared to pool store potions. AND has no unwanted side effects from the extra ingredients (CYA or calcium) that solid forms of chlorine bring with it.

Here is our recommended list of pool chems-- Pool School - Recommended Pool Chemicals

I have a salt water chlorine generator (love it!!) and spend no more than $150 a year on my pool. That includes test kit refills. How much are you spending?

Please read some of our Pool School articles to see how we do things.... much different from how the pool store would have you do it, but our pools are clearer, cleaner and cost a whole lot less. Start here--> ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

Holler back if you have any questions-

Tabs are their loss leader, they go in for the kill on everything else.
