Alternative for discontinued air switch

Hello!
We recently suffered an electrical failure of the air switch on our in ground pool hot tub blower. It's wired into our zodiac controller through a Len Gordan multicombo 95 controller air switch.

As soon as we press the air switch it trips the circuit breaker, regardless of whether or not it's even wired to the blower. We tested the blower independently and it works, so the issue is definitely in the combo box.

Apparently this box is discontinued and interested in folks' ideas for an alternative. One option is to bypass the switch and hardwire to power (this would necessitate us getting out of the hot tub and using the manual toggle on the blower). Is there a more like-for-like replacement for this air switch, or a way to repair the electrical issue in the controller?

Thanks!

So I guess this would be opening it up and poking around w a multimeter?

Yup, if you understand where to poke.

But first begin by looking with your eyes for any signs of burning or arcing, frayed or burnt insulation or wires.

Otherwise not sure if there's any suggestions on what to be on the lookout for....

Tripping the CB without any load connected to it says there is a short circuit where the lone side power is connected.

Open it up and post some pictures of what you find.
