Alkalinity up/baking soda..

It's kind of gross to find that I can get 50lbs of sodium bicarbonate for $23 online vs 10lbs for $23 from Leslie's. I'd be none the smarter if it weren't for tfp.

Or you can buy it at your local Costco, it's Arm & Hammer brand "alkalinity increaser". If you think that price difference is big, take a look at what a pool store charges for boric acid.

About the only thing I ever buy at Leslie's is acid. Their price is competitive and it always the stronger type. But, it's easily available elsewhere, so there is really nothing you can't get somewhere else much cheaper. They are handy if you need a valve rebuild kit, a specific O-ring or other part and can't or don't want to wait for it.

Walmart here sells 12lb bags of baking soda for under $8.00.. When I told Leslie's that's what I use they freaked, but they also said the chlorine in bleach is not the same as pool chlorine lol.. The Walmart brand 1lb boxes are only around $0.40, so even better.
