Alexa started saying "your controller is offline" today (Hayward Omnilogic). It is not offline. Anyone having this problem?

I have a Hayward Omnilogic pool control. I told Alexa to turn on my waterfall today. She responded "Your controller is offline". She now responds that way to to any "Alexa, ask Hayward..." request. I've never had a problem before today. My Hayward Android app is functioning properly with full control. The Hayward website controller interface is functioning with full control. My other Alexa home automation functions are working too, so I don't think there are any connectivity issues.

I tried rebooting the Alexa speaker and the pool controller. I tried unlinking and relinking the Alexa skill and re-entering the credentials. The process goes smoothly. But she still responds "Your controller is offline" when asked to perform a Hayward function. The Hayward website "Oauth Client List" says the Alexa is linked.

I'm beginning think the problem is either with Hayward's servers or Amazon's servers or their communication with each other. I'm not really sure how the commands work. Do they travel through the internet or does the Alexa speaker communicate directly to the Hayward controller through my network? I do know that Alexa is basically non-functional when my internet goes down but my internet is fine.

Is anyone else having this problem today? Can you please try to see if you use the Alexa Hayward skill? Any ideas to fix this that I haven't tried? DJI_0066.JPG

I am having the same issue—also just started a few days ago. In the past 3 years I have not had a problem with this functionality. My controller is definitely online and my Alexa account is linked as it should be.

Edit: I also have a Hayward OmniLogic.

I hope a resolution is found….just hate when stuff doesn’t work for apparently no reason.

Also noticed this today. Not sure how long it has been going on or just started as I just replaced thge Omni Hub main board. Issues with valve controler voltage.
Also restarted Omni Hub, linked and relinked Hayward skill, no change

I'm also just having this issue as of a few days ago. I hadn't updated my firmware beyond 4.x(6?) but I went ahead and did so after it started happening but it didn't fix anything.

I don't know if this is relevant but I also noticed that even though my EnGenius HLWLAN antenna is connecting to the Internet and I can control the OmniLogic through my app, it's no longer showing an IP address on my mesh network.

It might be a Hayward server issue. I did a fresh install of an OmniPL yesterday. Firmware from 4.0 updated to 5.0 via USB. Then I tried to connect to the update server just to check for any other device updates and it wouldn’t connect…?

I did a little more troubleshooting, and since my EnGenius antenna wasn't showing an IP address on my mesh network, I went ahead and bypassed it with a separate access point.

However, just as before, I'm able to control everything through the app, but Alexa still says my controller is offline.

I just tweeted (X'd?) their Twitter account with a link to this thread. We'll see if they respond.

Has anybody received an update from Hayward on this issue?
I have nothing of substance to report except that I messaged their tech support. They responded, asking for the Omnilogic MSP ID# and my address. I provided them with that info this morning and I'm awaiting their next response.

I’m actually having the same issue. Mine started right around the same time everyone has issues with Crowdstrike. I know Hayward was down due to Crowdstrike as well but my issue persists.

I opened a ticket a week ago but they’ve yet to respond.

Same issue. Notably the Hayward OmniLogic iPhone app still works fine. Clearly something has glitched about the Alexa interface, but whether it is Hayward’s fault or Amazon’s is hard to say. Annoying that two weeks plus have passed and it remains.

I am having the same issue with my Omnilogic. Can manually use iPhone app to control features but Alexa now says 'your controller is offline'. If anyone finds an answer please share back here

HI All - I'm having the same issue reported above ("Your controller is offline"). I've done the same basic troubleshooting - hard reset the omnilogicPL and also usb updating the firmware to 5.x from 4.8 and then reboot - no difference.

I called Hayward today and I guess opened a support ticket to call within 4 business days - not too optimistic

Folks...I heard back from Hayward support re this issue and they are saying this is an Amazon issue and that Amazon is aware and working on a fix. See below:

"Hello,

This is an email regarding Case # XXXXXXXX
Hello - due to a technical issue within Amazon, the Hayward skill is unfortunately currently not working for any Alexa users. To be clear, this is not a issue on Hayward's side, the problem is on Amazon's side. We have contacted Amazon about this problem, which they are working on, but we currently do not have a timeline for when it will be fixed by Amazon.
We apologize for any inconvenience."
