The air bleed sock at the top of the filter core on my CC150 won't stay on. I inherited this with my new(old) house and when I opened it to clean the cartridge for the first time I noticed the air bleed sock was missing. I ordered a replacement but can't seem to get it to stay on. The post it fits on looks like the the pictures for a new filter core, but no matter how tight I get the little plastic clamp the sock just slides off. This is my first cartridge filter so I may be missing something.

Welcome to TFP!

I'd never heard of an air bleed sock, so I looked at the manual for the CC150. Its only mention is in the parts diagram, not much help.

Maybe if you post photos of the sock and the part of the filter it fits onto, someone will have an idea.

Or you could try contacting Pentair and asking them.

The other model is similar.

If it isn't holding, it's likely time for a new clamp. It looks like it isn't very robust in the first place.

The filter is a Pentair Clean and Clear 150. Those are the parts I ordered. They fit on a nipple at the top of the filter core but there is no lip on the nipple to keep the sock from slipping off. I suspect the pressure is higher on the outside of the sock, so it may not normally blow off, but if there is some back pressure I suppose it could happen. The original was lost somehow :)

That's the right picture, and that's where I put it. The new sock came with a new clamp. It just doesn't seem to have a way to grab the nipple.

It shouldn't take much to hold it in place. The clamp should ratchet itself tight enough to hold the nub when you squeeze it.

sdb,

I would think that any flow of air or water would be through the sock and down the tube, and not the other way around.

Show us a pic of the filter and how is it connected to the pump.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue.
