Aiper Seagull Pro recall

Thanks for posting. Congrats on your new free Scuba S1?

I just received my Seagull Pro yesterday. I've got an updated serial number on mine, so it's not part of this recall. I'm wondering if this is why I found the price drop on Home Depot's website, though.

I've submitted an inquiry, it will be interesting to see how they handle it as there is zero readable evidence of the serial number on the bottom of mine.
An interesting side note is there must have been an updated version as looking at pictures some have a small wheel in the bottom center which mine did not.

Lithium fires are “fun” … they burn so hot that water can’t put them out, it only make it worse. Just keeps burning and consuming everything until it’s spent.

Perhaps time to rethink this whole “switch to battery” thing 🤔 give me good old fermented dinosaur-juice power any day …

My guess is it's not the battery starting on fire but the charge port. My first one that was the issue , the charge port overheated and melted. Interesting enough, the cpnnectors/wire on the battery itself are much heavier duty (I was able to keep the failed unit and did a post mortem autopsy)

Got an email yesterday- submitted invoice and pics - apparently mine is included in the recall.....
"After verification, your order complies with our recall plan. We will provide you with a label to return the machine and arrange for a brand-new Scuba S1 as a replacement.

Warranties on replacements follow the same warranty timeframe of the original defective item." (does this mean if the warranty on old robot is expiring..the replacement has no warranty:unsure:

99% of the time warranty replacements don't carry a new warranty period and use the original date of purchase. It's a sore subject of mine across industries. IMO if the new product is a lemon and they keep giving you new lemons, that's not your fault.

Did you buy a gasoline powered pool robot? Let’s see that beast run!!!!

That was my first thought too. :ROFLMAO:

I'd be thrilled to get a replacement with a 2023 to early 2024 model. Though I guess ironically they probably already all have.
It's now at FedEx, got prepaid shipper within 24 hours. Will be interesting to see what we get. If it lasts another 2 years I'll be happy. I forgot how much I hated a cord with my old Aquabot running. Betta keeps getting stuck.

Any concern with the model they are replacing it with (Scuba S1)? It seems like a lesser model. I bought the Seagull on purpose for wheels versus the tracks drive.
Well, I had to add larger treads on the Seagull to keep it from getting stuck on my drains (which I removed before shipping back). If the S1 doesn't get stuck, I'll be happy. I really hate the knob on the Seagull. Just hoping the S1 lasts. It weights 5# less, so that's a plus (maybe)!

received the replacement Scuba S1...it weighs much less than the Seagull Pro - also feels much smaller...the basket is a pain to clean out (at least for me)...and to pull it out of the water is another PIA....have already scratched the top trying to get it out...I just felt the Seagull Pro felt more sturdy.....only time will tell how long this lasts

PS: just did one clean (only floors in the pool)....at least the time I was watching it, when it hit the wall it was going up on its rear wheel for a while...was worried it was gonna topple over (but it didn't)...it did an ok clean...but nothing like my refurb aquabot

Yeah, I've been running my Aquabot a couple times. I sure like its filters better! Gets dead algae & pollen. Nice to hear someone got theirs. Did they notify you that it shipped?

Hopefully it does at least as well as the seagull. I reached out to see if i could pay the extra to upgrade to the s1 pro or x1 but mine shipped today as well.

So far the s1 seems like a significant downgrade 🤔. 25% less battery (7000mah vs 9000mah) takes 3x as long to charge (possibly to mitigated the overheating?) And sems to have half the power (2 motors vs 4)
