Good evening. I have a new pool that I’ve been testing daily and this week is supposed to be a rain event daily. Normally I’ve been having to add acid daily to bring my ph down to 7.5-7.8 range. If it’s raining continuously for a days on out do you continue to keep your ph and chlorine level in range or do you let the rain finish and then go back to adjusting chemicals? Weather is in the upper 70s, low 80s, high humidity in Houston, TX. TIA.

Rain has little effect on pool water chemistry unless it is of tropical storm intensity (feet of rain). pH will be driven up due to aeration of the rain hitting the pool surface. FC loss will be lessened due to cloud cover.

Stick with your routine. Focus most on the FC and pH and keep those in check. We're getting it too down here. When you get a small break in the clouds, do what you need to and it will be fine. If you had a bunch of overflow from the rain, check your CYA once the storms pass.

I’ll definitely have to check my cya. I’m happy for the rain because I’ve been trying to decrease it over time. Thanks for the advice

Thank you.
