Add water to the pool automatically

I tried to automate my pool. Just replace the timer with a WiFi one. Added a hayward chlorine dispenser. The last step is to find a way to add water to the pool remotely. What kind of option or choice do I have? Thanks!

Check for rebates on the manufacturer's site (click show rebates). Being in CA, you may be able to get a rebate for the full amount.

If you have no plumbing leading to the pool with which you can add water (like a manual fill pipe), then there are systems that add water at the equipment pad. There is some plumbing to do, but all at the pad and nothing that has to run to the pool. It's cheaper than digging up your entire deck, which unfortunately is the best that can be said about its price.

Now if you do have a fill pipe running to the pool, then there are other options. If so, tell us about the fill pipe, where it starts and how it terminates in the pool. A few pics would help us give you the best ideas.

Thanks everyone for the advices! I do have a fill pipe running directly into pool. It is controlled by faucet manually. I am wondering if I can add a timer directly to the pipe. I need a reliable auto fill mechanism that can be remotely controlled when I am out of town for a week or two.

Sure. As long as there isn't a second valve (including any sort of auto-filling mechanism) between the faucet and the pool, then a simple solenoid controlled sprinkler valve after the faucet will work fine. Those are typically 24V, so you'll need some sort of power supply, and a timer. You can use any sort of programmable wifi home automation controller as your timer. Or you can just use a sprinkler control timer (which will come with the needed power supply). If you already have a sprinkler control timer for your irrigation, then you might be able to use that if you have an open station, but you'd have to check to see if that controller can allow you to program the pool filling valve separately from your other circuits.

OR

You could use one of any number of simple inline watering timers, attached to the faucet, but you'd want to make sure the one you choose has some sort of anti-siphon feature.

If if doesn't then add an anti-siphon mechanism after the timer. This is a cheap one.

If you look around, there are probably wifi-enabled sprinkler timers. There are limitless ways to go to automate your current fill line.

Dirk, thanks a lot for the suggestions. I tried the 2nd option (without anti-siphon feature) before. The only drawback is that I can not remotely control it with wifi. I will do some research on the first option.

There is no need to find a WiFi valve or sprinkler controller. A simple way to control a sprinkler valve with Wifi would be to connect the valve's solenoid to a 24VAC power supply (an inexpensive "wall wart" of sufficient wattage will do) and then plug that power supply into a Wifi-enabled outlet. Something like these might work:

There are hundreds of choices for either of these types of devices. I don't have any direct experience with them, I just plucked them out of a google search as examples. My system is based on a different technology, but the principles are the same.

You can always complicate the solution, in countless ways, but a simple solution is available, too. You'd want everything enclosed somehow, or keep them inside. And it's probably prudent to power this from a GFCI outlet, though I'm not sure that's strictly necessary, as there is a transformer and a solenoid between the 120VAC source and the water. It would depend on how all the components are wired internally, if there really is safe isolation or not.

I don't know exactly how Alexa and her various devices work, as I don't use voice enabled devices. But I gotta admit, it would be pretty cool if you could just say "Hey Alexa, fill the pool for 30 minutes."
