Was wondering if this is typical with this cord? See pics. My saltwater looks to me like it’s eating this cord up. I’m very tedious about water quality. I keep everything in check in terms of CSI. I do keep my salt level at 3800-3900 ppm. I bought this from the Marina site less than a year ago. Do you think this is normal? Would they replace this? I’m wondering if it also poses a safety risk as this cord continues to get eaten up. Also no matter what I do I can’t keep this thing from getting tangled up. Drives me nuts. You can also see the color difference from the part that’s in the water versus not in the water.

It must be being pulled against something sharp. My first cord went 6 years and was starting to shed blue particles. But never was cut up. My robot stays in the pool 24/7. With very hot ambient temperatures.

They do tend to get gummy after staying submerged for long periods.
the solution is to unwind it & lay it out on the pool deck in the sun. It dries the cable out. Until this season, doing this completely restored the cable’s look & feel each time.
I find that if I let mine run more than a couple days without untwisting it I will get alot of tangles.
When I am home I carefully loop the cable on the deck after its run. My bot stays in the water most all the time.
This usually involves some twisting the bot around to unwind the cable as my controller is mounted inside a deck box & the cable runs through it.

I have nothing sharp in my pool. The ENTIRE cable that’s in the water is shredding.
Do you unattach it at the robot end??im assuming there is a way to do that.

No - i do not.
It is possible, but it involves taking the bot apart so that should be reserved for cord replacement.
The bots with the swivel cable are supposed to be less tangly but some still have issues.
Just unplugging it from the controller & straightening it out in the sun for a day or so should help then take the time to loosely loop the cord on a regular basis to keep it less kinky.
I caught mine in action the other day driving over its own cable as it climbed the wall so that + the fact it literally drives around in circles in my round pool explains it’s chronically coily condition
