Above ground pool, in ground pump and filter

I have a 44x18 foot above ground pool. About 27,000 gal. I am on my 5th 2hp above ground pump. I have a skimmer and a floor drain. Thoughts on a 1hp in ground pump and going from a 300lb sand filter to a 400 or 500.

Are you buying quality models or the $169 cheapo-s ? I just found a 2 hp for $117 and I imagine it would need to be replaced often.

In-ground pumps (and associated equipment) are generally used above the pool water level while above-ground pool pumps are used below the water level. You may have some odd hydrodynamics using an inground pump in your situation.
