30k, vinyl liner, SWG pool about to be filled for the first time. I see that TFP recommends adding and stirring salt and having the pump turned off for 24 hours. Is this right for a first time fill too? Pool school says address alkalinity and PH first before chlorine/salt. Should I begin there and then add salt and turn off the pump? I hate the thought of not having a pump on with new water for the first 24 hours.

I believe you're misreading that, the suggestion is to leave the chlorine generator off for 24 hours to give time for the salt to fully dissolve and mix in to the water.

You should absolutely turn on your pump and begin circulating water as soon as you have a high enough water level to do so.

Get CYA dissolving in your water immediately and chlorine in.

What is the pH and TA of your fill water?

Get pH anywhere in the 7s.

TA is not a priority.
