6 foot vs 8 foot diving board

Option 3) diving rock or raised wall and even bigger pool.

In a short pool, a running jump/dive is dangerous and you'll quickly learn to only stationary jump/dive. At that point, a little bit of spring is not worth a shorter pool.

Leaning towards a 6 foot diving board over a 8 foot diving board to get 2 more feet length in my pool length (limited on space). Any downside? Are 6 foot actually more safe?
I’ve got a 6 foot board and might like to switch to 8 because the supports for it are actually spaced for 8. The 6 foot has a little less spring to it, so maybe a bit safer given that you can’t bounce as high. My parents pool still has a 6 ft board and we’d bounce pretty high on it as kids.

Why are you looking to switch, just because has the space?
I’d like mine to be a bit more bouncy. The legs supporting it are spaced further apart than the board is designed for so it doesn’t have the bounce it should. But it’s also 20 years old and cracked so I’m not tempting fate anyway, and why it needs to be replaced anyway.

I went with an 8’ but I was going over an autocover end of the pool. 6’ is fine in my view as it would be marginally safer. It still allows for a controlled diving location which is the key point.
