$5585 for a replacement loop loc?!

Hi,
i need to replace my loop loc cover. It's ripped and can't be fixed. I bought the cover to the local pool place (loop loc dealer). They bought it to loop loc for a quote. They just called me and said it's $5585 for a mesh replacement cover (and that includes a "free" closing). I can care less about the closing as I close the pool myself. My pool is 20x40, free form and has a spa with an overfill. Does that sound right? It seems awfully expensive to me.

Generally with Loop Loc there is very little "shopping around" They keep a tight reign on their vendors and pricing and generally only approve one or two dealers in each market.

I have seen "on line" dealers for Loop Loc, but you need to be fairly do it yourself to deal with them.

Look around the perimeter of your current Loop Loc cover. Generally there is a tag with the original manufacture number on it so that a new cover can be made to the same specifications. Now, as I understand it this was only added in the past five o so years, so a much older cover may not have a "reorder" tag.

Try a different brand safety cover? Our Latham cover looks to use the same style anchors. Around here at least it seems like each pool store works with one brand.

I contacted loop loc. I asked if the price would be the same if I went to another pool store that was a loop loc dealer.
I found their response interesting.
They replied, "as a consumer it is your choice who you decide to work with. We cannot even estimate with the information you provided as it sounds like a custom cover that would need additional treatments. Please let us know if you are in need of additional dealers in your area that can assist you further".

Check for Merlin covers. They're the same thing as Loop Loc covers. I doubt they're less expensive, but it might open up another vendor or two to price shop.

That's crazy but I'm not terribly surprised from a pool store with a large, complicated cover like that. I would shop around. I was quoted $2400 for my 16 x 34 free form with no features to interrupt the cover. Was the original cover a loop loc? If so, they should have it on file to replicate so should not need any installation. Merlin prices are similar to meyco and loop loc in my research.
