Hot Start - 4 Year Old Pool

Hello, i am new to TFP. 4 year old pool owner in south TX. I have few patches of calcium deposit on my pebble tec floor and walls. I reached out to a pool service company and inquired about their services and they want to do a hot start to remove the deposits. Is it safe to do a hot start for a...

Can you have pebble tec replastered?

Hello, new to the site but not new to pools. This is my fifth home with pool and second pebble tec pool. This new to me home has a pebble tech finish which has been poorly maintained, and the Portland cement has been eaten away by poorly balanced pool chemicals. Weekly there are a small amount...

    Pebble sheen vs pebble quartz

Hi everyone. Very nice of you all to make time to educate and help those of us who are new to the world of having a pool. Much appreciated! We're ready to start building our pool after completing all revisions to the design and we need to choose a pool finish. Pebbletec is offered as part of...

Black waterline tile with Blue Surf

Leaning towards blue surf pebble sheen. Our pool will mostly be in shade, or I think midnight blue would be best with black tile, but I’m not wanting a super dark pool. Our water line tile and spa surround is matte black. I’m wondering if I need to do a more grey finish because of this, but...

    Pebble tec defect?

New to TFP, new pool owner. We are 18 months into our new pool experience. I wish I had joined this site when we were selecting a builder, but that ship has sailed. We have had many issues with the builder, some still being resolved. The most recent issue is that I have located several pockets...

    blue surf sun shelf 2.jpg

Sun shelf after filling the pool 24 hours after installation of blue surf. I was torn between blue granite, blue surf, and aqua blue. But I didn't want my 9 foot sun shelf to be grey. so blue granite was out. And Aqua Blue is more windex blue. (too light) Blue surf is a true medium blue.

Less common Pebble Tech/Sheen photos wanted!

We are in NC and are doing a geometric pool and spa. Our yard definitely gets a good amount of direct sun and full shade throughout the day. I am so lost with regards to what finish color to choose. We love the blue/green waters of the Mediterranean Sea so Seafoam Green and Bordeaux seem...

    Pebble Tec Crack

Hello fellow TFP'ers! Please share your expertise or experience. I have a crack in my pebble tec, on the entry ledge by the steps, that has slowly widened over the past 5 years. Current pictures are attached, with a quarter for scale. I searched this forum a few years ago and it seemed like...

Wall Whale - brush choices and replacements

So I read some old threads here and have emailed Pebble Tec but no response yet so thought I would post here too. They clearly recommend nylon to start but my pool is older. Has anyone here actually used a hybrid brush (nylon and SS) and found no damage to Pebble Tec? Secondly, my nylon...

Major PebbleTec Issues for Over a Year - HELP!

We are in the Dallas, TX area, and had our 29k gal saltwater pool resurfaced in March of 2020 from plain white plaster to Ocean Blue PebbleSheen. We spent $12k. On the final day of installation, the company called and explained that the final step, the acid wash, should take between 4-5 hours...

    Quartzcapes vs Stonescapes

I realize this has been asked and I have read through those posts, but I was wondering if some of the members that chose quartzcapes can comment on how it has held up over the years. We bought our house and the pool needs resurfacing. I like the QS a little better than the SS, but the both the...

Cleaning the surface of a neglected pool

Hello, I bought my house with its neglected pool last year and had fix a lot of plumbing and mechanical issues, and now I need to clean or refinish the surface and I need some advice. Judging by the looks of it I assumed that I was going to have to refinish the pool, it is pebble tec (I think)...

Black Algae - Pebble Tec Pools

I had redone my pool about 10 years ago and gone with a small pebble tec finish that had the longer 30 year guarantee. One of the reason I went with the pebble tec, is because the old pool had black algae when I moved into the house and I thought that the coating would prevent black algae in...

    Acid washing pebble tec

I am doing research on the effects of acid washing pebble tec. A couple of years ago, my pool guy - who I trusted implicitly - suggested acid washing my pebble tec plaster. He said it would brighten it up. Ok. Sounded good. Well, it appears not. My plaster is now ruined. There is a clear pattern...

Chunk of concrete breaking off raised area

This goes back over a year ago, so here's a condensed story. Pool was remodeled from plaster to pebble about 11 years ago. Steps, raised bench areas and spa were added at that time. Noticed a crack near spa area bench that slowly got worse. We also began to think we had a leak in the pool...
