Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

The most cost effective option was Duda Diesel. 55lb of granules was $119 after shipping, came in 3 days, worked like a charm!

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

A little bit of both. Kids splashing around + waterfall + slide (I'm not a small dude, I make a big splash...) raise pH quite a bit. Hoping borates help! The boss/wife told me I was wasting money on boric acid since it was already crystal clear, but then also said the water is so sparkly that...

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Sorry! You're right, I owe a photo update :) Bonus Dolphin shot included! There are a few spots where the liner has been stained/lightened, primarily in the deep end and along the edges in spots. Guessing this was due to previous owner neglect and maybe the swamp debris sitting for over a year.

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Overdue update: this pool is SPARKLING and we are loving it. I used MA to bring the TA down to 70. CYA is at 70. CH is at 110. I'll keep FC between 5 and 10, and pH between 7.6 and 7.8. I added ~48lbs of boric acid to bring borates up to 50ppm and saw an immediate difference. Thanks all for...

Goldline Aqua Rite with T15, intermittent issues?

However, I left the SWCG on overnight and it definitely generated. Will keep trying to get it dialed in and report back with any other issues. Thanks!

Goldline Aqua Rite with T15, intermittent issues?

I hadn't run it for an extended period so I'm not putting any weight into it; my pool was a swamp prior to the SLAM. I believe it was around 1600.

Goldline Aqua Rite with T15, intermittent issues?

It was just a test since 50% gave me inspect cell/check salt errors. I'm not planning to do 100% long term once I get things dialed in. Average is up to 3000 now that it has been running and generating for a while. I shut the pump off and confirmed "No Flow" illuminates.

Goldline Aqua Rite with T15, intermittent issues?

Hey all. I am working on getting my SWCG up and running so I can start enjoying my pool season. Disclaimer: I recently bought this house and it was a heavily-neglected foreclosure, most of the pools equipment seems in good shape but I can't verify the age or use of the salt cell. Before trying...

New-to-me old pool, trying to figure out lights

Assuming everything else is setup correctly and functional, if I put the X10 switch back in and push the tiny button on the right side of it, is it possible my pool lights would turn on? If there is a chance of that happening, I'll probably put the X10 back in and try it out.

New-to-me old pool, trying to figure out lights

Unfortunately did not see this before I swapped out the X10 "switch". The back of the X10 switch matches this layout, with the two wires in the neutral slots: https://www.x10.com/cdn/shop/products/xps4-back_1_68956b27-fa38-42f3-8d17-2f9ab329a942_1100x.jpg?v=1619593259 I installed a decorator...

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Thank you! I just added the salt I needed to bring it up to 3200ppm. Good callout on the slide, I had that in mind and am curious to see how big of an impact it makes on pH.

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Regardless of any sand speculation, this has been a great week for progress. I can see the liner pattern somewhat clearly in the shallow end, and I can make out the main drain in the deep end. I think I'm ready to end the SLAM within the next couple of days once things are cleared up. I've...

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

I'm not saying it's a magic bullet, but we're looking much better after 3 days of SeaKlear. Will share some pics closer to the end of the week!

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Are you suggesting I don't need to wait the week, or suggesting I don't need to check the sand? Either way, I'm going based off of what I've read on this forum and from other members in this thread. The sand is a big question mark considering this house was a foreclosure and much more obvious...

New-to-me old pool, trying to figure out lights

Thank you! Not sure I'd ever figured that out on my own. Aside from turning off the breaker at the house before pulling the Intermatic cover off, is there anything else I should keep in mind with replacement? Can I use a standard lightswitch from the hardware store, or is there something...

New-to-me old pool, trying to figure out lights

Hey y'all! I'm hoping to wrap up my SLAM soon and get swimming, but that's a discussion for another thread.... I have an Intermatic pool/spa control panel, based on what I'm seeing on google it appears to be a T30404R. There are a handful of breakers in the control panel which seem to be...

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Thanks for the encouragement! I grabbed some SeaKlear chitosan pool clarifier and added 6oz. We'll see what effect that has. I'll keep chugging for another week before I plan for putting the multiport off and cleaning the sand.

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Noted! We're coming up on 3 weeks of SLAMming with the filter running 24x7. Still passing OCLT, CC still ~0ppm, the only which needs resolved is clarity. As a test, I turned the pump off for ~12 hours to see if any sediment would settle to the bottom for easy vacuuming and it did not...

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

Thanks y'all. I'll give it another week before I start looking more closely at the sand. On another note, we're definitely seeing progress with the DE cycles. There is a third step!

Bought a foreclosure home with a long-neglected SWG pool

SLAM process is chugging along. I lost 1ppm FC overnight, CC tested at ~0ppm, but we're still pretty dang cloudy. I am still running my pump 24x7 and trusting the process! That said, it doesn't seem like my sand filter is making much progress unless I add DE. If I backwash the filter and let it...
