    Heater plumbing union slipping

Ok got the new part. Re-plumbed it. And I have a small leak at one of the slip couplings. See pic. Any advice how to fix that without having to rip it all out and redo it?

    Stains after opening

Hey all- I have some stains that appeared on the concrete in the pool from organic debris such as leaves sitting on it over the winter. Any suggestions on how to remove them? See pics

    Heater plumbing union slipping

Raypak R406A-EN-X. Threads on both ends look fine. It’s almost like the collar on the joint isn’t wide enough and it’s causing the “screw” portion of the union to slip off when it’s being tightened

    Heater plumbing union slipping

Hey all, attempting to reconnect this union going into my pool heater and it keeps slipping off. See video. Any advice how to get it to seat correctly? https://share.icloud.com/photos/0c8HDuYm73Ia58TgcGzNzhNlQ

    Standalone vacuum pump

Ok, got it working thanks for all the tips, all! Ordered a valve that I will attach on the discharge side as well. Really appreciate the help, @JamesW , @1poolman1 , and @ajw22 !

    Standalone vacuum pump

Ok I’ll give that a try. Do I need to be using the strainer basket in the pump if I am dumping to sewer (which is where the county wants it)? There is a lot of debris

    Standalone vacuum pump

Voltage is correct. Hose swivel is not under water. I am connecting directly to the suction side of the pump. Now that you mention it…I bet air is leaking through the hose swivel. Should I be using a different set up or different hose? See pic for how I currently have it set up What type of...

    Standalone vacuum pump

ok so I got it all wired up. But can’t seem to get it to actually pump water. I’ve tried priming the pump and the hose. Made sure all the connections have a good seal. Applied a little silicone to the plugs. But still not pumping water. When I prime it, it will pump that water through but then...

    Standalone vacuum pump

Thank you @1poolman1 and @ajw22 for the advice. I ended up going with the more expensive 3/4hp Hayward. Do you by chance have links to the fittings /hose you used to attach to the in/out sides of that pump?

    Standalone vacuum pump

Thanks for this advice! Are you suggesting I should be using a filter for the port-a-vac?

    Standalone vacuum pump

Cool I’ll give it a try. Not really expecting to use it more than 2-3x per year. Cleaning at opening and drain water at closing. And maybe an occasional cleaning mid season. So hopefully I can get 2-3 years out of it. Unless you have a different suggestion for a decent cheap pump?

    Standalone vacuum pump

Is it worth spending $699 on that pump? Or should I go for something cheaper like this?

Which lines to clear/blow out for winter closing

Thanks for the advice! Yes that was an old Polaris line. I’ve since plumbed it to be another return to the pool. Sorry it’s an older pic of the plumbing.

Which lines to clear/blow out for winter closing

Thanks for the suggestion. But to be clear, if I do this, I would still need to remove the cap on the check valve and blow air down the suction side (essentially in reverse flow) to clear the main drain? And while doing so I would need the main drain valve set to open pointed at 12 o’clock , and...

Which lines to clear/blow out for winter closing

Thank you. For the flexible PVC…what size should I get? Also should I be wrapping a towel or something around this flexible pvc so I can get a good seal on the ports?

Which lines to clear/blow out for winter closing

do you have a recommendation for which hose to buy for this? The blower itself doesn’t come with any hoses.
