Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! *PICS THREAD*

I had a similar experience one year when my cover ripped and dirty water from the top went into the pool. It looked nasty at first, but after a bit all of the 'dirt' settled to the bottom and the water looked clear again. If it's really just 'dirt' and not algae, I think it can then filter out...

    Fifth year, first SLAM.

OCLT passed this morning. It’s almost like this SLAM process works exactly as prescribed. Still need to vacuum and will swap/clean my filter. Now we just need some sun. Swim season is almost here!

Day 5. Couldn’t do much yesterday due to some heavy rains. But FC has held high. Turned my SWG on for the day as I’ll be away from home, so should be able to hold close to SLAM based on what I’ve been seeing for losses. OCLT tomorrow if all goes according to plan.

    Pool Temp and Opening

Mine was about the same. I think the issue here was that we had an unseasonably warm spring. Normally my pool would still have ice in it until the second week in April... but I was completely thawed already in March. So it just had a lot more time. I didn't open then because the risk of...

Yeah, the steps have been out since I closed in October.

Day 3, even better. Still cloudy but more blue and I can make out the bottom now. Some hotels might call this clear.

Significant progress already day 2. FC drop is slower. Certainly helps to be doing this in April while the water is 62 and not 82, and the UV index is still quite low.

Hmm that is an interesting thought. Plus the opacity could really make searching for dive rings more entertaining.

Happy Spring everyone! It’s been unseasonably warm here, meaning my pool water warmed much earlier than expected, leaving me with my first green mess. Had to add a little water to reach skimmer level. FC was 0 as expected, CYA still reading 60 from the fall… the water I added may have...

    Texas Heat Advisory

No tornados but my city had a lot of storm damage from the wind. Half our neighborhood lost power for several hours; we only lost internet.

We finally got some rain yesterday. This was my view while I waited for my daughter at her karate.

Liquid chlorine daily seems like a huge hassle, is TFP sustainable only for SWG?

Do you cover your pool? My chlorine use is reduced substantially when my pool is covered. I’m a bit further north than you, but on average I’m only losing about 1.5-2ppm per day. The less chlorine you lose to the sun, the less liquid you have to add.

How often do you get a "bum" reading with your test kit?

I’ve only had this happen when not adding enough of the DPD powder. It should be 1 heaping spoonful or 2 level spoonfuls. Sometimes now if I don’t feel like my heaping spoonful was enough, I’ll add a bit more. A little too much won’t affect anything but too little can.

    Texas Heat Advisory

I agree, although the pesky “having to breathe” gets in the way when it gets cold enough. You know it’s cold when the icicles start forming in your nose.
