    FC demand

Based on your suggestions I started with 2ppm and after monitoring I found that I was dialed in with my IC40 set at 37% which would indicate FC demand of 1.7. My CYA is currently 50 and I have been getting a FC reading at the end of the day of 7. I do intend to bump up the CYA some. This has...

    Instapark Betta review

24/7 most of the time. If it is just me or my wife in the pool I generally don't take it out. It is out if there is anyone else. I will also take it out sometimes if I am not going to be around for an extended period of time because it can get stuck in a couple of spots. It is also out when...

    Instapark Betta review

In my pool the Betta hits the coping all the time when the water level is high. Most of the upper housing is very scratched up from it. I didn't notice this until the damage was done. I am on a well so when we are nearing drought conditions I am hesitant to put water in the pool and the level...

    Need IntelliCenter info

I found another issue. At 5:00 this morning I noticed that all of the lights controlled by the IntelliCenter were on. I tried turning them off with the phone app, but while they turned off they came right back on. It had gotten cold (34d) overnight and I noticed that the freeze protection was...

    Instapark Betta review

As usual, it depends. There is no warning. You will get a feel for how often it needs to be emptied based on your situation and the time of the year (or even what week it is.) I have some flowering trees. When the petals drop I need to empty the basket daily if there is any wind. Most of...

    TFP recs vs warranty

I am glad you mentioned that. I need to pull out the actual warranty info to see what it has to say. Reminds me of the warranty on my pool finish. I had it redone with a pebble finish in 2016 and I was told it had a lifetime warranty. The catch was that I needed a monthly print out of...

    TFP recs vs warranty

There are several TFP chemistry recs that do no match what is normally recommended in the pool industry. I recently installed new equipment and don't want to do anything that can give Pentair a reason to deny a warranty claim. This is on the heater: Has anyone had a problem with a warranty...

    Instapark Betta review

The Betta finally ran out of juice overnight. Not surprising after a couple of days with cloudy conditions. More troubling is that now one of the LEDs is out. I'm not going to send it in for a warranty claim just for that. I'll get them to fix it when it goes back for a more serious problem.

    Need IntelliCenter info

Well, I owe it to you. If you hadn’t told me it could be done I wouldn’t have been as persistent in figuring out how. Rick

    Need IntelliCenter info

I was able to set the schedule for the feature circuits and the pool is going to run the way I want. It took me a while to figure out how to pick a name for the circuit of my choosing. There were drop downs with names that I thought I needed to choose. I stumbled on just editing the typing...

Yes, I can get to that website. I did find the system configuration screen and I will play around with it tomorrow. Thanks.

    Need IntelliCenter info

Thank you, Jim. That does make sense and basically is the solution I had come up with but probably didn’t express myself well. One thing that I didn’t know about was renaming the features. I should change what is currently pump speed low to something like day. Do you know how to get to...

    Need IntelliCenter info

Thanks Jim. I only figured this out today so we have not discussed it before. Edit: I was asking general questions about automation and upgrading my equipment back in the fall. Perhaps that is what you are remembering. Rick

    Need IntelliCenter info

After the pool company installed the new system I have not been able to run it the way I want. In the Pumps menu I have 3 choices - pool, low, and high. Those are set with pool being between low and high. In the schedule menu I have those same three options to choose. Pool was set for the...

    FC demand

I found the SWG Run Time Calculator. One of the input fields is FC demand. I know that is a moving target and has too many variables to predict but I need to start someplace. Can someone give me an idea of what to enter as an approximation for this time of year in Pennsylvania while I get it...

    IntelliChlor questions

Here is another question - this is in the Further Reading article: Some people look for champagne like bubbles coming out of their returns which is from the hydrogen gas byproduct of the generation. However that is not conclusive as the bubbles may come and go with varying pump speed. My...

    IntelliChlor questions

That is really good to know and I am going to change my settings accordingly. Thanks. I am still looking for the answer to the consistency of the flow switch.

    IntelliChlor questions

Thanks for the info. With regard to the flow once you find what works in a system does it stay close to that or can it drift?

    IntelliChlor questions

Here are a couple things that I need to have clarified. The manual says that the cell turns off when the water temperature falls below 52d. The Further Reading article says that it turns off when the temperature is below 60d. Why the discrepancy? The manual also says that the cell needs 25...

    Adding chemicals

No debate. I am just making sure I don't ruin a brand new cell. I'll just set the bottom drain to recirculate for a little while. Thanks for the info.

In that case it will go right into the bottom drain.

None. I was thinking more about adjusting TA and pH.

    Adding chemicals

2 more questions: By turning off the cell just set output to zero rather than disconnecting it from the power source? With the pump running at 85 GPM how long before the cell can be turned on? At that speed turnover of my pool volume would be 7 hours but I suspect I don't need to wait...

Pentair iChlor levels vs. TFP recommendation

I need to find the time to read all of the Further Reading articles. I tend to forget about the wide range of climate conditions members on here have. What CYA level do you shoot for in Northern NJ? That isn't too far off from me.

Pentair iChlor levels vs. TFP recommendation

I read that thread but still don’t understand the CYA level TFP is recommending. Having followed the advice here for years while using liquid chlorine (and occasionally pucks when I was traveling) the goal was to keep CYA under 50 so that the chlorine was more effective and less was needed for...
