Official 2024 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Had some pieces of leftover ribeye that had been smoked and seared. Were thinner pieces that were a little too well done and wouldn't have been good just reheated. Decided to shred them with food processor's cheese grater. Used the griddle to make cheesesteaks. Turned out awesome. No pics, was...

    Polk Atrium Subwoofer

Nice setup! You should give the Loudness setting for the speakers a try if you haven't already. Really livened up my outdoor 6.5" speakers (1 pair of Definitive Tech and another pair of Yamahas). The tree mount won't benefit as much as ones mounted on the wall assuming that pair is up under the...

    Polk Atrium Subwoofer

What amp are you using and just curious as to where it's located? Our pool is kinda far from the house so I'm a little jealous of setups where speakers & amps are easier to wire. Have you tried activating the Loudness setting on the speakers?

What’s your water temp - Spring 2024 edition

Cut the grass, wash the car, take a jog. Something to get your body temp up. Will make the plunge feel refreshing. Or if you have a spa crank the heat up and stay in as long as you can before jumping in the cold water.

What’s your water temp - Spring 2024 edition

75 in central TX. I'm usually in by now. Refreshing is more comfortable than warm for me. When I was much younger I was on swim teams and temps were rarely above cool so that's what I'm used to. The Mrs won't even consider it until mid 80s.

What did you do to your pool today?

Need to go get some more acid today. Equipment ran non-stop for 3 days in freeze protect. Spa spillway must have churned up the pH.

Official 2023 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Smoking, Grilling, Baking & Beer action has been so quiet lately. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but found a Blackstone 36 on sale at Tractor Supply last week for $250. Seasoned it on Saturday so it's ready to go. Just need to get to the grocery.

Puck Should be a 4 Letter Word

Dump powder in pool water filled to 10. Speed stir. If it's pink there's chlorine detected. Count how many drops it takes to turn the water clear. Give up after it seemingly never turns clear (easily 70 drops, maybe more like 80). No giving up next time.

Puck Should be a 4 Letter Word

TF-100 but admittedly my chemicals are a year old. They've been stored in a dark, cool spot and not even opened since 2022 spring sale. I gave up on the solution turning clear. Will run it again after work. I had been on auto-pilot in a routine that worked for years and not testing often. I'm...

Puck Should be a 4 Letter Word

Thanks for the refresher, folks. Will do the overnight chlorine loss test Wed/Thur. We're on rainwater collection and don't have enough in the tank to replace half the pool right now. Hoping the skies open up before long. Been super dry since the March or April.

Puck Should be a 4 Letter Word

Used to use bleach but almost $7 a bottle now. Been using pucks since the insanity knowing the affect on CYA. Went out of town for maybe a week and have been struggling since. Not sure if old chemicals are messing with results... FC- 35...is this even possible? CC- 0 TC- 35 and maybe higher, I...

Looks fantastic. HEB has hatch chili cheese that's tasty and would have paired well. It's their store brand in the usual fridge section, not near the fancier deli stuff.

Spa leaking water when Blower is on

The pool/spa is 7-8 yrs old. It's definitely coming from the side wall of the spa. Hasn't ever leaked before with the blower on and nothing on the inside of the spa has changed or opened up. I don't really need to run the blower as we hardly use the spa but don't like the idea of a potential...

Spa leaking water when Blower is on

Typical spa elevated above pool with spillway into pool. Everything is fine until the blower for the spa is turned on. Then one side of the spa has water leaking, running down the stacked stones. Doesn't leak a drop when the blower is off. I've never messed with the spa or blower plumbing so no...

Official 2023 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Question for the griddle crowd- Blackstone model 2177 is only $297 at wallymart while model 2259 is $399 directly from Blackstone. Looks like the main difference is the older model is 38k btu while the newer is 60k. Will 38k get the job done? Is 60k worth another $100? Are there other brands...

The Mrs has been knocking it out the park but with company/family here pictures have been a low priority. First is stuffed pork loin...gluten free stuffing w/breakfast sausage....this was smoked with a blend of mesquite & maple wood. Next up is greek night, pork & beef souvlaki which is...

Chuck roast burnt ends. Saw it online and gave it a shot. Turned out fantastic. Cheaper and quicker way to get deliciousness than brisket but tastes just as good. Smoked til 180 then cubed. Back on the smoker in a pan with bbq sauce for another 2 hours. Stirred a couple times so all the cubes...

    Gazebo got an upgrade

A little bigger, heavier and $$ but these sound fantastic. I've got em on an older Sonos amp with loudness turned on. Makes all the difference. Plenty of bottom end even on far side of the pool. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00170O1HK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
