I have a Polaris PB4-60 Booster Pump and it has been in service for about two years and this would be the start of its third. I just opened my pool and it looks like there is a small leak somewhere inside the pump impeller. I am not sure if it would be packing or some o ring. The pump is always under pressure as there is not a way to isolate it from the discharge of the pool filter pump.

Any thoughts or suggestions on the correct replacement wear part? Are there any good videos out there that walk you through taking the pump head apart and replacing the parts?

PS-1000 or PS-3865R (Viton) shaft seal. Be sure the impeller isn't melted where the seal cup is inserted. If it looks even a little deformed it needs to be replaced, it will continue to leak and damage the motor.
Use a large socket or a 1" pipe PVC pipe coupler to drive the stainless-steel portion into the bracket after putting a tiny amount of silicone sealant on the metal part only that goes into the bracket. They come from the factory that way now.

Just fyi, the "new" PB4-60 (since late 2011) doesn't use the PS 1000 seal. I forget the part number for the seal spec'd in the current model, but the PS 201 is a direct replacement (and cheaper). I've replaced many of them with no issues.
