I know this is a mess and I am working on fixing it but I’m pretty shocked my PB let this pass. If I would’ve looked at it in 2021, when the pool was finished, I would not have accepted but my wife and I were pretty intimidated with the whole build and didn’t think of looking at the wiring. Anyway, I plan to start with getting main pump and booster pump on separate GFCI breakers and relays. Next, GFCI for the pool lights. After that, getting the spa blower and heater on their own breaker and relay. I’m open to any suggestions, so fire away.

Welcome to TFP.

What is connected to the four relays?

The installer did a nice wiring job but why didn’t he follow the NEC and install GFCI CBs?

Thanks. I know the relay in the upper right is for the two speed pump. The one below it is (I’m assuming) for the booster pump, based on the orange jumper connecting the two. The other two are for the spa blower and (I’m guessing) the lights. I have the WaterColor LED lights. Why he didn’t follow code? I wish I knew. I imagine cost. Those breakers are expensive. Also, I have a multiplex pcb but no connectors, so based on the fact he connected my JXi heater via two wire and not RS 485, I’m assuming cost. I plan on fixing that, too. My first clue was the two breakers but when we got the pool I just didn’t know what I didn’t know. Well, as late as it is, I know now. lol

The pool light is the lower right relay. It is GFCI protected through the LOAD side of the GFCI outlet on the right side of the panel. That is ok.

Filter pump and booster pump need GFCI CBs.

Spa blower does not require a GFCI but gas heater does.

Thanks. I didn’t think about the heater but I guess anything that contacts the water needs a GFCI. Makes sense. I had an idea the lights were lower right because the relay only had one side of Line / Load connected. Pretty sure my deck outlets are with light wires. I guess the PB used red wire instead for the neutrals for the lights but kept the neutrals white for the outlets. That’s the only part that is confusing me.

Neutral for the lights connect to the GFCI outlet and then to neutral bar. They are all white wires.

I want to separate the lights and outlets. The two reds on the relay would be the neutral wires? The load from the CGFI and the load neutral to the deck outlets? Correct?

I think I got it now. The red wires are hot. The neutral wires are all correct. Like you said previously. All of them are white. The red wires are the “black” hot wires. I’ll definitely be using a voltmeter, anyway.
