Alkalinity Up & Calcium Hardness Same Day :(

Hello! Earlier today I added 1 lb Alkalinity Up. 3 1/2 hours later I added 2 lbs Calcium Hardness ….and then immediately after, I noticed a notation to not add them the same day because it creates calcium carbonate which causes cloudy water and scaling (argh).

I won’t make that mistake again but anything else I should or should not do for a few days to let things settle?

I will likely need to add more calcium hardness but shall I wait a few days now before adding the CH to let the water clear?
Thank you!

We have a smaller fiberglass pool. After Helene and Milton my husband upped the SWG to 95% because we had a lot of brackish water flood the pool. After testing today he lowered it today to 55%.

The pool store recommended 8 lbs 13 oz CH with a max dose of 3 lbs 12 oz at a time but I started with just 2 lbs.

And, thank you, yes I am reading the basics and ordered the pro test kit today as well.

Also I should mention pool stores have a TA range of 80-120 ppm but notice TFP recommends lower range. As I’m reading am I right that a higher TA tends to see a rise in pH also - so that’s the reason for the lower TA range here?

Unless you have water line tile with cement based grout, there is no need to add calcium to your pool water.

TA levels are based on what is needed to moderate pH rise and CSI - that is only a concern with plaster pools.

Maintain a pH in the 7's. Let TA fall to where it falls too. But do not let it get much below 50 ppm. If it does, you are adding too much acid.
