Double checked my signature - all info in there is accurate including the pump.

While out of house we got text from neighbor saying our pool pump might have bad bearing, making loud noise. When we returned, indeed, the pump is making terrible noises. The pump lasted only about a year and half, I guess one gets what one pays for.

Am seeking to replace two main elements in my pool equipment area: The SWCG panel (Hayward Aqua Rite SWCG), and a proper pool pump.

Hayward Aqua Rite SWCG had bad thermistor that was replaced and had its life extended by another 7 years, saved me tons of money back then thanks to suggestion by this forum. it's still running fine, but there have always been some slight weirdness with the unit itself - sometimes the setting for some reason "sets" t-cell value to something other than T-15 (what I have), down to T-7. I discover that and fix the setting. It seems random on when this happens, usually months apart. And of course, the pool pump that I'd like replaced.

I'm looking for recommendations. Ideally, the new 3hp VSP pump and the SWCG can be controlled via WiFi from a mobile app. Nothing super fancy. From googling, it sounds like it's hard to go wrong with Pentair? I'm not sure what the difference between SuperFlo and IntelliFlo is. Just need one the essentials plus WiFi access (will pay extra for product with WiFi Access)

Thanks in advance!

Its a shame it didn’t last longer but for the price of them I always recommend buying the longest extra extended warranty since they don’t quite have a proven track record yet. It adds about $100 to the cost.
They do have replacement parts available if you’re interested in repair
Alternatively many credit cards have extended warranty protection which may be worth looking into to help recover some costs even if you purchase a different pump.
Others like @Jimrahbe & @ajw22
will hopefully chime in soon about the best solution for your set up as far as upgrading options to get the features you want.
Are you planning on doing the work yourself?

Hmm, will look into those you mentioned (extended warranty protection, I used Chase Sapphire Reserve so the protection should be decent hopefully).

I don't plan to do the work myself, plan to have a professional install both SWCG & pump (or whatever option I end up going with after feedback from this thread)

C,

The SuperFlo is a 1.5 HP pump and the IntelliFlo is normally a 3 HP pump..

I suggest that you get the IntelliFlo3 pump. It is a 3 HP very energy efficient pump. It can be controlled by an App or a Pentair automation system.

You can get the IntelliFlo3 with a display and a relay card that can control two external devices.

You could also get the IntelliChlor SWCG with an external Power Center, but that is something that can be done later.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Link says 011078 (the item with both touchscreen and relay) is in-store pickup only. Pool Supply Unlimited (another site I've seen mentioned around here) says out of stock. Any good alternative online pool supply stores?
