Want to replace standard ladder with steps that will be easier for us older pool owners to navigate. (Climbing out of pool with a regular ladder getting especially difficult.) Wondering if anyone has any experience with steps that can be "dropped in" in place of the ladder. (We have a deck on one side of the pool so only need steps from deck into pool.) Have been looking at "The Mighty Step" from PoolSupplies.com just because we have purchase supplies from them them before and have been happy with their service and the ladder looks like it would meet our needs. It has four steps, hand rails and two brackets to attach to deck. One concern is product description says for pools 48" to 54" high but diagram shows 45". Our pool measures 46" from floor to top of pool wall rail. Wondering how critical this measurement is.
We are certainly open to other suppliers/steps if anyone has any to suggest. Any comments appreciated.

HI,
There are so many threads about steps if you do a search. In response to your question about the height I think you will be fine with even if the top step was 45"
Especially going from a ladder to steps.
We have wedding cake steps and would not use anything else.
Good luck!

I have Confer 1 X steps, they work very well. I have the whole 1X step system but they sell just a single side. They attach to a deck via 2 anchors that slide over the handrails. Actually the handrails slide into holes in those deck anchors.

I will say I had to drill some extra holes into the steps to help with getting water in them, also had to add ballast as they were slightly buoyant. The ballast is 2 chlorine bottles filled with pebbles.1000001688.jpg

I have had the same steps for years and the only thing I have had to replace were the bottom skids. They are the Confer Step, Model #STEP 1 and work great for toddlers to older adults. When placing them in the pool once the holes fill up with water, I have never needed to add any ballast. There is a gap between my deck and the pool so I just insert some long stainless steel bolts, through the mounting brackets, and insert them into that gap. We haven't had any issues with getting up and down the steps. I do need my adult boys to help get the steps out of the water when closing the pool, but I like that the water drains out before freezing weather.
