Cloudy & turquoise

Hello! Purchased TF-100 and downloaded pool math app, and having a little trouble. We’re very new so not sure what all terms mean but as far as I’m aware, we have a 30k gallon pool, it’s some sort of plaster (which badly needs replaced but will have to be next season), and has a Hayward sand filter and super pump. My pump was off for two days because I thought I broke it but we are back up and running now. Attaching my test results and looking for some guidance on what to do. It seems like I need borax but also acid. Wouldn’t those cancel each other out? Then, it does appear I need to add some chlorine, correct? What other info can I provide that might help me figure out next steps? Water is cloudy and turquoise but free of debris and I can see fully to the bottom.

Your TA being high will cause the pH to rise. Leave it alone and pH will rise. When pH rises to 8, reduce it to 7.6 with muriatic acid. Rinse and repeat. When your TA gets to about 80, only lower pH to 7.8 or so. pH should stabilize around 7.8-8.0 with a TA of 60-80.

Your issue is CYA. Do a diluted test (#8 in the link) and report back.

You will likely need to replace water to reduce your CYA...see no drain water exchange here:

Thanks so much! Ok, after further reading the instructions on the CYA test, I see my first results were a little off. It’s hovering just around 70. 72 if I had to be precise about it. How would I determine how much water to exchange for this CYA level?

How are you clorinating?

Your CYA is 80. Always round up to the next 10.

CYA is a direct relationship. Remove 50% of the water, you will halve your CYA to 40.
