Hello! New to pools here - hoping for she advice.

Last week we opened the pool for the season and noticed that the pool's plaster is pealing off.

We learned from the pool math app that the chemical levels were off in such a way that the plaster was more susceptible to break down, and we read that re-plastering can be required every 10-15 years.

Questions:
What is a reasonable lifespan for plaster?
What is a reasonable quote for a 25,000 gallon pool (18x36, 3ft to 8ft)?

We've only received one response to our quote requests so far - it was for eco finish instead of plaster, and it was almost $30K.

We appreciate any insight! Pics attached.

TIA

Looks like old plaster that has been stained blue from copper. Top layer of the plaster is spalling.

I'd guess somewhere in the 15k range for plaster, maybe another 5 or so to change out the waterline tile to.

With the plaster being soft/spalling you are going to want them to either do a full chip out or use a hydro-blaster to remove the existing surface. This will probably cost more. DO NOT let them just acid or pressure wash it and bond-coat it.

I would not try eco-finish on that surface unless they first remove everything that is soft or spalling.
