Any chance someone would has a dead Dolphin robot laying around that could sacrifice a side weight? I noticed in pulling mine out the other day that one of them must have swollen and let water in, rusting the metal inside and pushing the cap off (see pics). Seems like a terrible design. If anyone has a parts robot laying around and could spare one, I'd gladly buy it from you. The are accessed by popping the "fender" off the center of the track and pulling one screw. Thanks for the consideration!

Wes

I would contact Maytronics and show them that picture. Hopefully, you registered it, and even though it may be out of warranty, they should make it right and send you a set free.

You have me worried now, as I have the same robot about the same age as yours.

I guess your anode is not doing its job:poke:

I called Maytronics, and they were absolutely no help and downright dismissive - could not have cared less. Found the part (called a bypass door assembly for some odd reason - 9991731-ASSY), and ordered two of them from Marina Pools. the pic shows they have clearly revised the part and epoxied the weights in place, so no doubt this was a common failure. After that experience, my next cleaner will be anything but a Maytronics.

It's pathetic, really, for what is clearly a manufacturer defect. I take the thing out of the water every single time after it runs, coil the line, and store it indoors, so it's treated as well as any pool robot ever is.... For what these things cost, a little gesture would go a long way. Oh, well... I'll not make the mistake of buying another one - heaven forbid it had a real problem with the motor unit or control board.
