I'm new to having a pool and am still trying to get the lay of the land with it. I was going to pinch a penny every week to get the water tested, which has been fairly accurate compared to my taylor test kit, but before I read this forum, I was using their advice, which may or may not have contributed to my issue. I have a Salt water pool and my FC is at 11PPM and am trying to lower that down (pinch a penny says between 2-4, but I'll look up that accuracy later). My SWG was set at 75%. On Friday, I disabled the SWG using the Easy Touch Panel to hopefully lower the FC, but nothing has changed so far. Last Wednesday my CYA was 40, so I added 1.5 pounds of granular stabilizer in the skimmer (not in a sock. noted for next time) CYA is now up to 60. Not sure if that contributes to the spike in FC, my understanding is it would maintain the current FC. Not sure if this matters or not, but I recently turned off the Heat Pump as it isn't needed anymore in the Florida heat.

Anyways, I'm looking for advice on several things, 1) How to lower the FC, 2) Whether turning off the SWG was the right idea, 3) When I enable the SWG what percent should I set it back to? Thank you in advance for the help!

Free Chlorine - 11 PPM
Combined - 0
PH - 7.4
Alkalinity - 70 PPM
Calcium Hardness - 320 PPM
CYA - 60 PPM
Salt - 3,800 PPM
Water temp - 78-82 (79 at testing)

FC will come down on its own. Leave pool uncovered and give it a few days.
You may also want to lower your SWG to get it where you’d like it. Use the “effects of adding” in pool math and determine what works best for your needs.

There's nothing wrong with your FC; the target range for 60 CYA is 4-9 NOT 2-4. Being a running a little hot won't hurt anything. During a SLAM with that same CYA, you'd be bringing it up to 24 FC and even that would be safe to swim in, so 11 is fine. Left alone with the chlorinator off, the FC will eventually drift back down to target range.

I almost perpetually run just over target by 1-2 FC; not on purpose, that's just how it always seems to work out. It certainly doesn't bother me a bit. Then again, I've always been solidly Team Run Hot. :coffee:
