We had a pool that’s was installed two years ago that is semi recessed. It’s a 18 foot round pool and it was plumbed with 1 1/2 inch piping. I have bought solar pool heater that has a 2 inch head and seeing if I need to replace the one and a half inch pipe that is current plumbed in with 2 inch before I add the solar pool heater that is 2 inch. I have read about flow restrictions and seeing what people recommend. The solar pool heater will be installed approximately 40 feet away from where the pump is in a clear area of my property. Or can I keep the 1.5 inch and make the pipe going out to solar heater and back 2 inches? Any help is greatly appreciated

Welcome to TFP.

No reason to replace the 1.5" pipe you already have. Just run 2" pipe for all new pipe. It will be fine.

Upsize/downsize it however and wherever is most convenient for you. You will never notice the difference in flow, although it technically will be different.
