Hi! I am looking for some help. I am doing a DIY 20x50 inground pool(breaking ground tomorrow). I am looking to purchase my plumbing/ pipes next week but I'm not sure what my best route of action is here are some details.

-Pump- TriStar 950 VS w/Omni logic
-3 Skimmers/supply
-3 Returns
-1x 4ft wide waterfall
-2x 18" waterfall.
-typhoon slide

I was thinking of doing 3" supply lines (roughly 50-75 ft runs to the pad). And everything else in 2" and the besides the slide that would be in 1 1/2"

I planned to run each unit on its own line. I want to do a one pump system so I am thinking to put a valve on and have the waterfalls &slide operating or the returns bc I'm assuming the pump wouldn't be able to handle running everything at once. (Please correct me if I am wrong)

I am looking for suggestions on what the best setup is to plump this pool. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

What do the waterfalls and slide Installation Manuals say about the GPM requirements?

Slides need a lot of water. Probably more then a 1.5” feeder pipe.

You want to keep the water velocity below 6 ft/sec on the suction and below 8 ft/sec on the pressure side of the pump.

Pipe Size6 ft/sec8 ft/sec
1.5"38 GPM51 GPM
2"63 GPM84 GPM
2.590 GPM119 GPM
3.0"138 GPM184 GPM
4.0"235 GPM312 GPM

Here is the head loss in feet for 100 feet of PVC pipe at different flow rates for 2” and 2.5” pipe.

GPM2”2.5”
301.6 ft0.7 ft
402.8 ft1.2 ft
504.2 ft1.8 ft
606.0 ft2.5 ft
707.9 ft3.3 ft
8010.2 ft4.3 ft
9012.6 ft5.3 ft.

The waterfalls says it's 1gpm per inch of length of waterfall so 48gpm on the 4 ft waterfall and 18gpm each 18" waterfall.

I plant to feed each one with a 2" and I might just do the slide a 2" aswell. I will read on what the required GPM are on it though.

Unfortunately I'm not all that knowledgeable on hydraulics/pool Plumbing pressures that would run efficiently.

What filter and heater will you have?

How many GPM do you expect your pump can get through your filter and heater?

I think the 950 wouldn’t be sufficient to have everything running at once. I would upgrade to a HCP 3000. It has 3” inlet and outlet. Whenever we have more than one water feature or one skimmer we upgrade.

Many a pool owner looks back and wishes they use larger plumbing.
