Chlorine prices

Thanks the pool is 216sq ft with a small spa 6x6 attached spa picture below

You need to determine the volume of your pool - how many gallons it holds.

Look on your paperwork for the pool volume in gallons.

Scroll to the bottom of this page.
Click on Old PoolMath Webpage.
Scroll down to Estimating pool volume.
Input dimensions to estimate the pool volume.

Ok finally got around to look at this and the results are as below I’ve been using the below Clorox packs for the chemicals and would for now like to switch to something without changing out the feeder any suggestions or can I keep using the feeder whilst I figure all out . Setting below on the feeder. “Can I just unscrew the top and fill “ do I need other chemicals or should I go to manual chlorineIMG_1884.jpegIMG_1885.jpegIMG_1882.jpegIMG_1881.jpegIMG_1880.jpeg

Do not put a different type of chlorine in that feeder. Chlorine gets explode-y when the different forms mix.

Liquid chlorine is the only way to not jack your CYA (trichlor/dichlor) or CH (Cal-Hypo) levels.
I’ve been using the below Clorox packs
Chlorox CYA/stabilizer is the only product from them that we approve of. Everything else has harmful things added to it, like the shock packets that are 4 in 1. Use up or sell whatever you have left and avoid chlorox from here out.

That feeder is for Trichlor tablets ONLY . What you have there is dichlor granules. They are to be broadcast into the water not placed in that feeder and the area should be brushed well so they don’t sit on the surface or they will bleach it out/cause damage.
This is what each pound (16oz) of the dichlor will do to your water

As you can see It adds alot of cya and is quite acidic.
We recommend that you use liquid chlorine instead as it only effects fc.

The concern with Clorox products is the unknown - there is 48% "Other Ingredients" What is that?
I would forget about the chlorinator - the top can be hard to unscrew, the oring always need changing, the control dial never really works as expected. So, either go with a floater where pucks can be placed to float in your pool or make the big switch to liquid chlorine.

The tubing needs changed constantly and the Viton o rings don’t last as advertised for the chlorinators.Other ingredients?? It’s a mystery mix I guess!!

Hi I will move to liquid chlorine I just need some help figuring out how much weekly, I’m travelling a little at the moment and wanted to use the chlorine tablet feeder but was unsure of the setting and what I should expect in how long the chlorine tablets would last if I add 5 lb of the below, and thanks for all your advise

Most 3” tablets weigh 7 or 8 ounces each so there are probably 10 or 11 tablets in that bucket. You have a Rainbow 320 which holds 10 or 11 tablets,I would put the output setting on 4.The rate of them dissolving will vary a lot depending on flow rate and water temperature, I have seen that amount last several months in warmer water. They only dissolve when the pump is running and water goes through the tubing and chlorinater.Tablets are very acidic with a PH of 2.8 and contain very high concentrations of CYA just to remind you.

The use of tablets in a feeder is primarily dependent on how long the pump is running. It only disperses chlorine via erosion of the tablet. A fully dissolved trichlor tablet will raise FC by 6.8ppm, CYA 4.1ppm, Salt 5.5ppm and lower pH by 0.4. This is for 8100 gals.
The pump run time and the setting on the feeder will determine how quickly 1 tablet dissolves.

I use a floater in the winter (SWCG not on) so the tablets sit in my pool 24/7 and the wind moves the floater around the pool. It still may take a week or more to dissolve a tablet this way.

Thanks poolmaster for your time still figuring it all out, so if I use this method how do I keep the pool in check with the acidic side, should I be lowing the PH. Thanks again for your time

The pump I have running 4 hrs a day in Florida and I like the floater idea also… I’m not using the pool currently just the hot tub. So will be covering soon with a thermal cover hopefully so I can use soon. I just did the filter clean and next add some vitamin c to remove some stains, this pool

You generally don’t used tabs long term. Just long enough to get the CYA up to 30-50 and then switch to non stabilized chlorine source (Bleach or SWCG)

I agree with @HermanTX and would just use a floater for now.I don’t think your pool gallons is correct in your signature.

Thanks guys I’ll look at the pool math again for gallons, and non stabilized chlorine is this the one which is liquid form?
Since you are in FL, find a Pinch a Penny pool store near you. They sell a 2.5gal jug of 10% liquid chlorine. They have an exchange program. You buy the physical jug with your first purchase of LC. Then just return the jug empty and pick up a full one and only pay the cost of LC. After 10 purchases you have get a discounted jug. They have a storage tank onsite which is filled often so you are normally getting real fresh LC. Sometimes they have discount sales on the LC as well so watch for those.

You can purchase muractic acid there as well but normally not discounted or you can go to Walmart or other store for MA.

The pool is 4.6 depth one end and 3.6 the other 36 ft by 6ft length and width the gallons of water came out to 8079 as attached think my math is right ? Any comments

Length x width (spitball averages if freeform) X average depth X 7.481 gallons per cu ft.

Is it more shallow, more deep or 50/50 ?

For a 50/50 rectangle I get 6625 gallons. Subtract 807 gallons (6 inches) if the depths are wall height and not water height.

*edit. Is it 3ft 6 in or 3.6 ft ? The math above is for 3.6 to 4.6 ft.

I get 6463 using 3.5ft/4.5ft water depth.
