No communication from pentair i7+3 to pump

Jul,

I was trying to find something that the actuator installer did that might keep the pump from working, but it looks more like the two issues are not really related.

Please let us know what the fix is, as others may end up with the same issue.

Sorry I was not able to get it done...

Hi Jim,
Well pool guy was out again… changed comm cable , factory reset .. and nothing …. Then he told me about a wire that was shorted out and prob caused pump to short out , he replaced pump and he made the repair but when he spoke to his “experts” they feel that the issue may be the wire shorted out part of the board… so prior to buying a new board, he’s bringing someone out to see exactly if board is bad. He is the wire and burn mark. Pool is currently working in stand alone mode so I’m happy with that. Thoughts? Thank you

Jul,

It is hard to see anything in the pic, but that wire appears to be for 120 volts AC, and it is at the bottom of the chassis, so it might pop a breaker, but I can't see it having anything to do with damaging your circuit card...

See if you can get a better pic.

Did they factory reset the pump, or the Automation???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi,
I appreciate all of your help. I just spoke to pool guy amd he thinks he knows what it is… I asked “ could it be a bad communication cable?” , so he is bringing an extra one tomorrow. I will definitely let you know the outcome. Thanks again
Hi I don’t know if this helps

Jul,

If everything else is under warranty, then the circuit card should also be under warranty. Is the pump new, but the panel is old????

I have been doing this stuff for a long, long, long time, and I really doubt that the shorted wire could have cause the pump to go bad, and even less likely that it caused the circuit card to go bad.

It does sound to me like the circuit card may be bad for some kind of communication issue, but I really doubt that the burned wire had anything to do with it.

That said, nothing I say will make any difference in what your pool guys want to do. Let's hope that they send out a qualified tech, that has a clue how things work, and can isolate the problem.

Sorry for all the trouble you are going through,

Sigh!!!

Thank you…. So u know why pentair isn’t able to connect to my “gateway” so they can view it on their end… thanks…

Jul,

If the com chips on your card are bad, then they would not be able to talk to the circuit card..

I have no clue if that is true or not, but a Pentair tech should be able to tell what is wrong pretty quickly.

Thanks,

Jim R.
