Was looking into higher end robots, but my smaller pool and it’s odd features (steps/seat/safety ledge) led me to think a simple vacuum and circulation robot would be a good fit. My pool has a slope so I wasn’t sure the Rover Jr would handle it well based on some reviews. I also am in a newer subdivision so I don’t have any huge trees dumping leaves in me yet.
Ended up going with Aquabot S2-50; partially because I used some “points” through a work program, which only offered Aquabot robots, to essentially get it for free.
Ran it for the first time today. Jetted up the slope no problem, and picked up a lot of the fine dust left over from construction. I still brushed the ledge and kind of moved dirt closer to the center of the pool so it could get on top of it.
It tends to like sticking in straight lines. I know I can change the pins to adjust it’s turning, but even after messing with them it seems to stick in a pretty straight line.
Something that I found interesting is all the reviews I saw alluded to the filter bags that need to be emptied and cleaned. I was pretty surprised when I opened the machine and found a filter basket instead. Seems to be made of the same micron catching type material and it did a good job getting the fine dust in my pool.
So overall pretty happy, it does what I need it to do. Just thought I’d share my initial thoughts!
